Very thick glass will be greenish in color, acrylic remains clear. Acrylic clarity lasts for years without turning yellow or becoming damaged when exposed to long-term sunlight. Clear acrylic has an index of refraction that is almost the same as sea water, so there is no bending of light when passing through acrylic and entering water.
